Sunday 28th November Southside Wheely Wheelers club members met at 12 noon instead of the usual 9.30am due to the possibility of icy roads. Mother nature is raising the bar each week and this week she dropped the isobars to give us club cyclists the challenge of cycling in freezing conditions. Southside Wheely Wheelers club cyclists met the challenge and made the right decision to start this weeks Sunday cycle at 12noon. Road conditions were perfect and club cyclists got in to gear and wheely enjoyed cycling 60kms in the cool beautiful sunshine. Out cycling Sunday were Jerry Ryan, Sean Burchill, Michael Leahy, Liam Carroll, Owen Tobin, Shane O’Brien, Paul McCarthy, Michelle Gammell, Ber Gammell, John Fitzgerald and Paul Gammell. Well done.
Mountain Biking: Brian Hannon took six other enthusiastic cyclists mountain biking Sunday morning at 9am on the Ballyhoura trails and had a wheely enjoyable cycle on the mountain.
Cycling Skills: Brian Hannon and Owen Tobin will be representing Southside Wheely Wheelers by attending a Cycling Ireland Cycling Skills Instruction course and this will prepare our cycling club to train underage cyclists when our club holds the Cycling Ireland Subway Sprocket Rocket cycling skills program in the new year for children from 7 years upwards.
Southside Wheely Wheelers will be holding a bag packing weekend in Ryan’s SuperValu Kilmallock on Friday and Saturday the 3rd and 4th November to help raise money to fund our cycling club and for our new club cycling gear.
Southside Wheely Wheelers club cyclists are constantly involved in raising money for charity and this week club cyclist Daithi Creedon will be raising money for CARI and Enable Ireland by taking part in Limericks White Collar Boxing fight night in the South Court Hotel at 7pm on the 4th December. Daithi has trained hard for this charity event and our cycling club wish Daithi the best of luck at the event.
