AA: 12% of drivers had near miss with cyclist

One in eight drivers on Ireland’s roads has had a near miss, or even a collision, with a cyclist in the last two years, according to research from the AA.

The research shows more men than women had such an experience with vulnerable road users like cyclists, pedestrians or animals.

Up to 17% of cyclist-related incidents happened in wet weather conditions.

Dublin had the highest rate of collisions or near misses with people on bikes, followed by Galway and Wicklow.
