All’s well that ends well. As an acknowledgement of the journey club stalwart Owen Tobin and his wife Judy have been on since Owen’s accident,  Paul Gammell on behalf of the club wanted to make a special presentation. Using his many contacts in the bike racing game Paul managed to get a Jersey from Tour De France winning team BMC, signed by all the team with a special dedication to Owen. Judy was presented with flowers and Owen thanked her for all her support and strength during what was a tough time for both of them, he also thanked all his club mates and received a great round of applause. Great to see you fit and well Owen.

As a young club that only recently dipped it’s toe in the racing pool major results were not expected for a while. Nobody told Stephen Finn, Brendan Houlihan, Big Dave Walsh, Alan Dee and Daithi Creedon this. From the very first race they’ve been mixing it with the more established riders and looking like scoring some some decent points. Showing brilliant strength, speed and determination Daithi was the man to put the SWW Blue and Yellow jersey on the podium for the very first time, grabbing a fantastic second place in Nenagh on 22nd April. Not content with that he went to the John Drumm Cup race in Castleisland a week later and stood on the podium again with a terrific third place finish. To show the clubs appreciation for his efforts, Paul presented Daithi with a framed photograph of him crossing the line in Nenagh as he put the Southside Wheely Wheelers on the racing map. Well done Daithi, we’re all proud of you.
